Welcoming Baby Kubert

There’s something incredibly special about being invited into someone’s home—especially in those tender, fleeting days after welcoming a new baby. The Kubert family welcomed me with that kind of warmth. The kind that feels more like showing up to a friend’s house than arriving for a photo session.

Just a few weeks earlier, I had photographed Sam and Sonya’s maternity session in LA. That day, I made fast friends with their oldest daughter—who quickly became my little sidekick and “mini bestie.” So, walking through the door again to document their newborn session, I was genuinely excited not only to meet their newest love, but to be reunited with her too.

The light that afternoon was soft and golden, streaming gently through the blinds and wrapping the room in a calm stillness. It was one of those quiet, sacred spaces where time seems to slow down. The kind where giggles echo softly, baby stretches are magic, and no one is in a rush to be anywhere else.

Sam and Sonya have a love that feels steady and effortless. Watching them together, you can see how they just get each other—how they pick up on cues that are invisible to everyone else. Whether it was trading glances during a diaper change or moving in sync to soothe their littlest one, there’s an unspoken rhythm between them that speaks volumes.

I feel lucky to have been invited in—to witness, to document, and to celebrate this beautiful new chapter with the Kuberts. It’s these quiet moments that tell the real stories. And this one is full of love.
