Nearly a decade ago, I photographed Sonya’s college graduation—wide smiles, fresh dreams, and all the electric energy that comes with standing at the edge of something new. So when she reached out years later, asking if I’d be willing to come down to LA to document this next chapter of her life, I didn’t hesitate for a second.

Sonya and Sam have built a beautiful life together, and getting to witness it unfold against the golden glow of Dume Beach in Malibu was something special. We spent the evening chasing the tide, soaking in the salty air, and watching the sky turn every shade of lavender and peach. The kind of sunset that makes you stop mid-sentence and just breathe it all in.

There’s something tender about maternity sessions—especially when you’ve known the mother long before the title “Mom” ever applied to her. Seeing Sonya now—strong, radiant, and full of quiet anticipation—was a full-circle moment I won’t forget.
